Daly Middle School – Possible Natural Resource and Renewable Energy Institute?

On February 29, 2012, representatives of the local school districts, the Oregon Institute of Technology and Oregon State University, as well as local governments met with us to explore the development of a natural resource institute. After the meeting, we toured the institute’s potential home: the Daly Middle School. Due to shrinking class sizes, School District 7 only uses a third of the middle school and the district would like to see the rest of the building put to good use.

The school has new windows and new lighting, all reducing energy costs. The school has also been retrofitted for geothermal with the construction of the heating district starting this year. The school also has a $1.5 million dollar grant to bring the building up to seismic standards.
